Nicole & Colin’s Wedding at Lone Oak Wedding Farm
Every wedding is unique, and Nicole and Colin’s celebration on August 16, 2025, at Lone Oak Wedding Farm in Huron Township, Michigan, was a perfect example of a day filled with heartfelt moments, family love, and joyful celebrations. From intimate detail shots at their Airbnb to their son stealing the spotlight on the dance floor, this wedding was full of moments that reminded me why I love capturing weddings.
Morning Prep: Capturing the Details
The day started at a nearby Airbnb with Nicole, her bridesmaids, and her mother. While they got ready, I photographed all of the thoughtful details that make a wedding day truly personal—the invitation suite, jewelry, flowers, dress, and other meaningful items. These early shots set the tone for the day and captured the little touches that tell the story of Nicole and Colin’s wedding.
Reception Preparations: Setting the Scene
Before the ceremony, I visited the reception location—a local VFW hall—to capture the decorations, table settings, and personal touches that Nicole and Colin had carefully planned. From the centerpieces to the unique elements like their phone booth for guest messages, every detail reflected their personalities and love for each other.
Ceremony: Sweet, Personal, and Full of Love
Nicole and Colin’s ceremony took place outdoors with a barn, pond, and open field as the backdrop. Their son served as the ring bearer, adding a heartwarming family touch. The ceremony itself was short and sweet, with a very personal feel.
After the ceremony, the couple exited while their guests blew bubbles, creating playful and joyful moments that made for adorable photos. Following this, they signed their marriage license, and we captured family portraits, preserving memories with the people who mean the most to them.
Couples Portraits: Including Family in the Story
With no bridal party to worry about, we moved straight into couples portraits, making sure to include their son in several shots. Nicole and Colin also shared a private moment exchanging their own written vows, which was incredibly touching. You could feel the deep love and connection between them—the kind of genuine, emotional moments I aim to capture in every wedding.
Reception: Fun, Heartfelt, and Family-Focused
The reception kicked off with a grand entrance, and the couple went straight into the cake cutting and heartfelt speeches before dinner. Once the dance floor opened, their son quickly became the star of the evening. Nicole and Colin shared their first dance together with him, creating a sweet, family-centered moment. Later, Nicole danced with her father, and Colin shared a special dance with his mother, adding even more warmth and emotion to the celebration.
